No other pets.

Yes, we raised Oscar from 8 weeks old.

MaleYellow

We lost our wonderful yellow lab Oscar to old age in December 2018,. We are finally recovered from that experience and ready for a new puppy.

We don’t have a vet right now, because we don’t have another pet. We took Oscar to Aloha Pet & Bird Hospital here in Indian Harbour Beach, FL. We’ll likely use them again. You’re welcome to contact them at 321-777-6444

I am a stay at home mom and will be home with and caring for our puppy during the day. My husband and our kids will be chipping in with feeding and walks.

He will rarely be alone. Starting in September we will be gone two to three hours at a time on weekends for kids soccer games.

We will find a training class. I trained Oscar, but that was years ago and he was so easy to train that I’m pretty sure I need a refresher.

At night he’ll sleep in his crate in our bedroom. He’ll sleep in his crate during the day too. At the beginning, we might move his crate to the family room during the day to keep an eye on him while he’s sleeping.

I have raised just the one, but my wife has had Labs since she was a kid.

My wife and I think that Labradors make the best family dogs. We were lucky enough to have Beaugh (pronounced Bo), our Black Lab, for 12 years. He grew up with our kids as they grew up. They are loving, loyal dogs, and having a puppy would complete our family.

We will probably crate train the puppy, and also take him to a standard command training class.

During the day, I assume he would sleep on a dog bed or in a crate. At night, i would assume the same.

My boyfriend and I have grown up with family dogs both small and medium sized and loved every minute of it. The last few years our family has gravitated towards labradors and we have grown to prefer these larger more energetic labs. Chocolate labs we’ve recently fell in love with and we can’t wait to have one of our own!

Have not chosen a local one at this time

During the day my boyfriend will be working from home – so our little guy will have a companion around almost the entire day. Playing with, walking, and loving him until I get home and can cuddle and play with him until we fall asleep

3-4 hours maximum

We will give him positive reinforcements with treats and lots of love and encouragement when he does something right and will see how he best learns. Not giving treats if he does something he’s not supposed to. We are open to training suggestions but may hire a trainer if it becomes difficult to tell him no

In the beginning we will most likely try to crate train him, allowing him to learn to sleep through the night alone until he is potty trained. We will have beds for him in our room and the living room etc. for during the day and when he gets old enough to choose to sleep around us (or until and if he decides to sleep in the bed with us lol)

DeWayne M. Piperdmpiper34@gmail.com7869721427None but many come down to visit us on a regular basis. My family in GA love to come down here often, and most of them have children from 3 to 16 years old. They all have pets too.Three

Currently, there are no pets in the home. My wife is getting a female fawn Boston Terrier soon so they can be brothers and sisters for years. Both will be puppies when we get them so they will grow together.

Both mixed breed girls were very young puppies when we got them. The three greyhounds were 2, 2, and 3 years old when they were rescued.

MaleYellow

In the past 25 years, my ex wife and I have had two mixed breed very young puppies that were cared for indoors and very well cared for by regular checkups by a veterinarian in Augusta, GA then in Boca Raton, FL. They got regular checkups and teeth cleaning. They both lived into their mid to late teens. We also adopted three rescue greyhounds and gave them all a life they never knew existed. They were always well cared for both in our home and by veterinarians.

We divorces four years ago, and she took and still cares for the greyhounds back in GA. I go visit them every trip I take to visit my family.

As a child (through to adulthood), our home had a yellow lab named “Sport”. He was the kindest and most loving dog I’ve ever known. He loved running around on our farm. Unfortunately, he was bitten by a rattlesnake while traipsing through the woods. By the time we discovered it had happened, it was too late for the vet to save him.

I’m currently 58 years old and recently re married. My new mother in law has moved into our home as well (after months of begging her to do so.)

I would LOVE to have a Golden Labrador to love and play with. He would be happy and loved and would be free to run, fetch, and play in our large, fenced back yard when not going for a leashed walk in our gated community.

As I don’t currently have a pet, I don’t have a veterinarian. The one we had saw our girls often enough that they knew their names on-sight. I will select the same or one closer to my current residence in Delray Beach, FL after researching their education. Auburn and University of Georgia produce some of the best veterinarians. I’ll only select a vet from one of those two universities.

My mother in law is always home. My wife and I have divergent and often opposing schedules which results in one or both of us being home simultaneously. There will be a well organized and constant adult presence in our home, all three of us will care for our babies.

Zero. As for crate training in the next question, all three greyhounds were crate trained. Neither mixed breed puppies were. I would defer and proceed based on your opinion and advice.

We always trained our girls by allowing them to be themselves and gently (vocally only) let them know when they were doing something wrong. I’ve read that obedience trainers are good options but plan on studying that further before making that decision. I would also welcome any and all advice you can provide. He will not be a “working” dog but will instead be a part of our family.

Always indoors and wherever he chooses whether it’s on the sofa, love seat, or round doggie bed on the living room and master bedroom floors. Our home is nearly 3,000 sq ft with a large fenced yard. As weather permits, he will sometimes nap in the grass by my hammock or even on the hammock with me.

At night, he/they will sleep on the doggie beds next to our bed.

My husband and I grew up with dogs. He had a black lab named Bubba, and I had a golden named Maggie. We believe dogs add happiness and adventure to a family. We love animals (just adopted a kitten), and we look forward to having a dog companion for years to come. We want a sweet tempered dog that is good with children, as we plan to start in the next year or so.

Yes – Silver Bluff Animal Clinic in Miami, FL. Hamilton Brinn is our kitten’s name.

My husband and I have the ability to work from home or to be flexible with our work-from-home schedule.

this will vary, but we would adjust schedules to take care of the puppy.

We plan to take the puppy to training classes and potential hire a 1:1 trainer to help us when we get started. To us, training needs to be consistent and followed by both owners.

We have a kitchen, and we’ll probably put up a baby fence rather than crating the dog. Depending on your/vet’s advice, we may crate, but I prefer when dogs get comfortable with their surroundings. We are open to crating if the vet/breeder recommend it.

Yes. We raised a female cane corso named Nica. She was the light of our life. Sadly we had tp put her down in 2019 when she was 9.5 years old. It broke our hearts and we have waited until now for another puppy. Our new homeowners association does not allow mastiffs so we have been looking at labs.

FemaleYellow

My wife and I have always admired labs and we love their disposition.

We used Cole animal clinic for Nica’s entire life. They are located on Federal Highway in East Boca. You’re welcome to contact them.

My wife works Monday through Thursday from 9:30 until 4. I work everyday but we both have the ability to work from home. In addition, my office is less than 10 minutes from home. We will have no trouble caring for her!

See above. Once she is old enough we would have her in the house for no longer than 8 hours. As a puppy we would be home mid day or all day if working from home.

We used group classes with Nica combined with private training. It went well and we expect to do the same this time.

In the house. She will be a complete house dog.

Half an hour while I pick up my teen from school.

Crate train gradually…give him comfort objects… don’t close door until he has made a positive association/put food in there. Don’t rush and act upbeat. Housebreak… take him out every few hours… and after he eats…. Use words “go potty”, be excited when he does his business. Etc… we also may go to obedience classes as he gets older. I will also refer to my veterinarian father/books/trusted internet sites.

Probably in crate with his/her blankets in our bedroom so I can check on him/her and know if she/needsto go out. As the puppy is housebroken and older, doggy bed in our bedroom or in crate if that is where he likes. Will also have puppy monitor.

Are dogs we lost were 11, 13 and 18. We lost them all in one year and 9 months. We have no dogs left .

We had one and we just love them.

There is one of us home during the day. A couple days a week the dog may be left for 5 hours.

5 hours at most just a couple days a week.

We have 2 and a half acres fenced in so we plan to train the dog to go outdoors. No puppy pads.

We have 3 Glofish in a tank in our kitchen up high on our buffet table.

Yes, we have raised a puppy. We had a border collie named Indy that we raised from 10 weeks on. I trained him to do all kinds of tricks and loved having him around the house with me. I have seen similarities and differences in labrador retriever puppies too. My Aunt got a black lab 1 year ago and it’s been fun hearing about Annie. My friend Brooke ‘s British Red Labrador is named Kai and my kids and I got to spend some time with him when he was a puppy, 3 years ago.

MaleYellow, ChocolateService

My husband and I both grew up around labrador retrievers. My Aunt Nancy has always had 1 or 2 and my sister has a chocolate lab now that is 4 months old. My husband’s close friend had a chocolate lab named Dutch and so we feel that given our family, lifestyle, and home, that a labrador retriever would be a great addition to our family. We have a fenced in yard and a pool and plan to go on long walks together through our neighborhood.

We haven’t had an animal that needed a veterinarian since we moved to Florida, almost 2 years ago. I do have one in mind though!
I’d like to use West Boca Veterinary Center off Yamato Rd. It’s close to our house, has all the services we would need and is rated well. We would use DVM Eric Haskin or DVM Gregg Kuehnell. Please feel free to contact them.

I am a stay at home mom. Therefore, I will be with our puppy all day. This family member will be my companion at home during the day and go with me as well. I love to be outdoors so we will go to the dog park and the dog beach and eventually go paddleboarding together when he’s a little older.

0. I don’t feel comfortable leaving a puppy alone and I don’t have to as a stay at home mom.

I will work with our puppy at home and there is also a place locally, called Petlover Central that does a lot of wonderful puppy training. I am also interested in continuing his training to become a service dog.

Our puppy would have a crate and a dog bed that would be in our main living area/family room in our home. We spend a lot of time together as a family in these areas and would like our puppy to feel that he’s a part of our family. His crate will be a positive place for him to go and he will not be kept in there but to sleep at night.

In 2019, our black lab, Taylor passed away. My wife and I had her since we were in college together. After a couple years of not having her around we feel the time is right for us to bring a new puppy home to grow up with our children. Our older children are eager to have a family dog.

Yes, All Creatures Animal Hospital.

I will be the primary care person during the day. I work from home and will be able to frequently take the puppy outside for potty breaks, walks, and play time. We also have a saltwater pool the puppy can enjoy. Our previous lab loved to swim in the pool. This will also be a good lesson for our children learning the responsibilities of caring for a dog and the exercise they need daily.

Maybe 1 if I have to run an errand.

Crate training will be first implementation for training. Positive reinforcement for good behavior.

I assume during the day the puppy will sleep in the office with me and night in our bedroom, or perhaps one of the children’s bedrooms.

One female yellow lab. She is 4 years old.

Yes. We have raised our current dog since she was 6 months. And we have experience of fostering a puppy from about 10 weeks to a year and a half.

FemaleYellow, Chocolate

We have a yellow lab already and have a 2 year old daughter. We did our research and believe labradors to be the best breed to have as part of a family with young children.

We just moved to Port St. Lucie so are currently looking for a new vet to register with but as soon as we do we will give you the contact info!!

I will personally care for the puppy during the day. I work 2 days a week, but when I work, my husband is home taking care of our daughter so he will be with the puppy when I am at work. The puppy will not be alone.

Maximum 3 but this will only be when the puppy is older, let’s say 6-7 months.

We have had experience training dogs with Peggy Adams in west palm beach. We will use the techniques we learned with them with our new puppy.

The puppy will have its own bed in our bedroom. She may also sleep in the bed with us if that’s what she prefers.

The lizard has been to Atlanta animal hospital and one of the cats. One cat came from Southeast humane society and the baby one is a TNR outside cat, all are spayed.

I am familiar with labs and they are great family members.

I use Atlantic Animal hospital when needed.

My husbands black senior lab is his dog, he is glued to my husbands hip. He can’t go to the beach anymore bc he is elderly and can’t do the long walk.
The yellow female puppy will be mine and she will be trained to go to the beach dunes with us. During the week day my husband, after school hours our two oldest kids and weekends everyone.

During the week days maybe 1 hour a day and if we leave on the weekend to shop maybe a few hours. We are mostly home on the weekends and my husband works overnights

I work at my local Sheriffs office so I plan to train the dog similar to a K9 to use code words and keep by my side and use hand signals.

Wherever she wants unless when we leave she may be crate trained for when we leave during her puppy times. Other than that the senior dog roams the house and she would too. We have a baby gate to block off the cat food area bc cat food is not good for dogs. She would not be giving table food either

My daughter lives at Jax Beach and has a golden doodle so they will play together.

Yes, several over the years. We are both retired so our lives will center around our girl.

FemaleYellowDock Diving

Lost our girl in August last year (mast cell cancer); she was 8. We are finally ready to fill the hole in our family and can’t imagine anything other than a lab!

Have used Capital Vet on Hartley Rd for surgeries (stifle) and will be using them them for well-care. 904-647-7481

As stated, we are both retired. I’m at home all day and my husband is often in his workshop a block away. Puppy will be crated for short periods during the day (shopping, etc) and at night until house-trained. Backyard is fully-fenced but she will never be left alone there; we have sitting areas with fans in both front and back so she will be my full-time companion.

Very seldom. Husband can always walk home if I decide to have lunch out.

Start with leash training, away from areas with other dogs until fully vaxed. No pet parks! Will probably use an e-collar when a little older to help with counter-surfing, jumping on visitors, etc. Used an in-ground fence system before and will most likely re-install in front yard. I will take her to obedience/puppy and adult classes as appropriate.

Crated initially, then on our bedroom floor, or in a bed in the living room.

No other pets in the home.

My boyfriend and I have both always had dogs in our lives. We have each helped raise puppies and take care of dogs with our families. Last year, my parents got an English Lab puppy and I was lucky enough to help train and raise him. While my boyfriend and I do not have a dog of our own in our home yet, we feel very prepared and incredibly excited to raise our new puppy.

EitherYellow

My boyfriend and I have been waiting for the right puppy for years. We have both always had dogs in our families and are excited to get our own. My parents have 2 English Labs that are just full of life and love. Seeing how fun, loving, and intelligent labs are, we decided that a Labrador Retriever would be an amazing addition to our life. We are relaxed but love to get outside, so I think the temperament of a lab is perfect for us.

We do not currently have a veterinarian. We are fairly new to Florida but I have many friends that have dogs and have given recommendations for vets in our area.

Our puppy will be cared for by my boyfriend and me. My boyfriend works from home and will be with the puppy all day. I am currently in a graduate program and work part time, so I am home frequently. We are greatly looking forward to caring for the puppy together.

1-2

It is important to us to have a dog who listens and can be well behaved, so we know we will have to be consistent and patient with training. I want our puppy to be trained in basic commands like sit, lay down, come, stay, and drop it. I want to work with the puppy on leash training so we can take them on walks anywhere without issue. Overall, I want the puppy to feel good about listening to us.

We will have a crate in our bedroom for the puppy to sleep in at night. I want the crate to be a space where the puppy feels safe and they know they can go there when they are tired. We will also have a space in our living area for the puppy to lay/sleep during the day.

I’ve raised several dogs. Most recently a lab/shepherd mix.

We live on a saltwater canal in St. Petersburg making us frequent boaters. We are interested in having an animal who loves the water as much as we do! We have a large yard with plenty of space for a dog to play. Our tightknit community is full of dog owners who frequent walks with their animals, something we miss being a part of with our dogs passing.

We used Banfield pet hospital on 3993 Tyrone Blvd N Suite 500, St. Petersburg, FL 33709 and Dr. Guzzi was our vet there.

Both my wife, Courtney and I would. I work from home and Courtney works from home part-time.

We adore our labs and the children have such fond memories of our dogs as puppies. We want to do it again! I have actually sometimes thought about doing breeding, so I am not sure I would rule that out, but primary purpose is a family pet.

Companion Pet Care in Fort Myers. You can contact them, but we have not lived in Fort Myers long (just a few months) so we have only made a couple of visits. We moved from Hollister, CA and the vet we used for years there was Family Pet Care. You can contact either one.

I am a stay-at-home mom, so I will take care of the puppy during the day. Also, my husband is a farmer and farms right at our house so he is around much of the day. During the summer, the kids will be around a lot too.

Someone will usually be around at all times. Not more than a few hours on various days when we go shopping, etc.

We will use a crate when the puppy cannot be supervised. We will house train the puppy when it is 3 or 4 months old by giving it a treat for going outside and a firm “no” for going inside. We will take it to a training class when it is old enough. This is what we did with our other labs.

In a crate in the same room with our 2 adult dogs. The room has a dog flap, so the older dogs can go out to relieve themselves any time. When the puppy is old enough we will eventually let it sleep with the crate open so he/she can get outside too.

Yes, rescue dog Duchess (best dog on the planet) she will be 4 years old this month. She is a wonderful dog with lots of energy and loves all dogs big and small. When our kids come home they bring their dogs – Tyler has a 4 year old rescue dog named Theodore, and Alexis has a 2 year old rescue female silver lab named Rigly who is a dwarf and very sweet. All our pets are very social, they are used to being around lots of people and other dogs.

Yes I have raised two sets of sister Pomeranians from approx 8 weeks to their teens, my husband Ken has raised multiple lab and retrievers from puppy until their teens, and we rescued Duchess at 10 weeks.

FemaleYellow

Not doing any of the above with our dog, she will just be our very much loved family pet and a birthday present (not a surprise, we’ve been searching for a while) for my husband. We had a lab named Duke we lost unexpectedly to spleen cancer about 3.5 years ago. Ken has always had labs & retrievers, we just love the temperament and can’t wait to have another.

Dr. Wilson at Village Animal clinic – yes you may contact her.

During the day I work from home, so I will be taking care of our puppy.

3 – 4 on an off

We have worked with Amber and Pedro Perez of Canine and Company (recommended by our vet Dr. Chris Lapsley at the time) when we rescued Duchess. We will work with them again approximately once per week for about 10 weeks on all the basic commands.

During the day the puppy will be with me and will nap on her bed in my office, or on the couch. When she is potty trained, she will be sleeping next to Duchess in our room in her own dog bed. Until she is potty trained, she will sleep in her kennel.

Crate training has always been our preferred way to train young puppies. We have also took classes on obedience training. This is one of the reasons we prefer labs because they are extremely treat oriented and easy to train.

We are firm believers in crate training for sleeping overnight . We might loosen up a little after the pup reaches a year or so. During the day, once the pup is potty trained, they are welcome on beds and couches.

I grew up with two different chocolate labs and they were such amazing dogs. They were very talented duck hunting dogs, but also amazing family dogs.

I do not, but when I plan on realistically acquiring about a litter, I will likely get one.

It is likely that I will be working shortly after getting a dog, but I plan to either be able to come home during lunch or have someone else walk them. It will either be a friend the dog knows or someone from a dog walking service.

Likely around 3-4 hours at a time between people walking them.

I was always very interested in the process of training my dogs growing up since my dad did it himself and I also have experience with training my horse. I am a big fan of long lines to help teach them to stay attentive while being able to explore. I also have been reading a lot about using high value treats as an incentive. I would like to teach the dog basic training like come, sit, lay down, stay, kennel, leave it, and heal.

Likely in a kennel in my room when young and then in a dog bed in my room when older.

We have a daughter that has ADHD and would be interested in giving her a companion that can help calm her and focus her at times. We have not done any of the formal requests or searches as to what goes into raising a “service” dog and we don’t want to make it seem as if we need one for a physical assistance. But we do believe that our daughter would benefit from the a lab’s demeanor and love.

We do. Dr. Scherr at South Dade Animal Hospital.

My wife is a stay at home mom, wife and house manager. She is there all day when she’s not dropping or picking the kids up to/from school or at Starbucks ? ? lol.

1 if that.

In the past we did crate training for potty training. We also did a basic obedience course at the petco. We are thinking of doing a more in depth obedience trading this time around. But haven’t locked anything down yet.

In the main bedroom with us, the adults. Not on our bed, we would provide the puppy with a bed and crate. And once he is fully potty trained, he would have the choice of where he sleeps (inside the open door crate or on the dog bed).

First let me start off by saying that I’m sorry if this is a duplicate form. I filled one out a couple days ago but the captcha thing gave me a funky message. So this is me making sure that you receive a form from us.

Our daughter has ADHD and is a very caring and kind person. She often has difficulty making friends in school because she always wants to hug and often gets overly excited around others. We are hoping that we can get her a companion that will always be happy to receive her hugs and attention. We love our little girl & would love to see her with a friend. And if that friend has 4 paws, then so be it.

Yes. Our Vet is Dr. Scherr at South Dade Animal Hospital.

My wife is an amazing and loving full time stay at home mom to our 3 children. Aside from the daily trips to/from school to pick up/drop off the kids at school & the occasional Starbucks run, she and my 1 year old are always at home.

Less than 1. Depends how long the line is at Starbucks. Lol.

We previous house broke our puppies by crate training. We plan to do the same thing this time. We also took our puppies to a general obedience course at the local PetCo which we also plan on doing again but we have also talked about getting a more comprehensive obedience course as well. We think that’s be nice for the new puppy as well as us.

The puppy will sleep in our bedroom. Not in bed with us, but in the room. While the puppy is being house broken, he will sleep in the crate (crate training), and once he’s all house broken he will have the choice of his bed or inside the open door crate. Our other dogs seem to really appreciate the freedom of choice.

We are thinking of adding a third puppy to our pack and since bringing home our first lab 9 years ago have never considered another breed. We love living with our labs! Most importantly, we’re looking for a healthy puppy with a solid lab temperament and excellent early socialization as we’ve enjoyed the benefits of living with well-bred labs.

Yes. We work with FloridaWild Veterinary Hospital in Deland, FL, usually with Dr. Villanueva. (396)734-9899

Angie is at home during the days and takes care of our dogs full time. On the occasions that we are traveling or have to be away from home for more than a couple of hours we have a pair of professional dog sitters who come into our home to care for them.

Usually 0-2.

We use positive training methods and have used a combination of group classes and private in-home training sessions in the past depending on the situation. We would plan to definitely attend puppy classes and possibly add private training as needed.

We use crate training and our dogs sleep in their crates for at least the first couple of years of life both at night and for down time during the day. One of our adult dogs “graduated” from sleeping in her crate when she was around 3 and the other loves her crate and chooses to sleep there as an adult.

Life is better with a dog. I prefer labs because they are usually very family oriented. They train well and are eager to please. I want a calm one that can be easily desensitized to various social situations.

I would likely take her to work with me when she is young or until my wife (school teacher) is out for the summer. My oldest daughter is often home during the day doing college on line. I’m sure while she is new and little, everyone will want to watch her.

Once she is older, we would be her home from 9am to 3pm. Although, she might often go to work with me.

I have experience training elephants, rhinos, lions, giraffe, and much more. Not sure training is the right word for the family dog. I want to incorporate her into our family. Be loving, be consistent, be well adjusted, be eager to please and follow my lead. Some people think it’s just sit, stay, paw. My philosophy is much deeper than that. We always get complimented that our dogs are so well behaved. It’s not the dog tho, it’s the consistency of the family. Everyone is always training. The dog is always learning.

The dog will sleep on HER dog bed in the house.

Yes, a black lab when I was younger, a dachshund, and I helped my sister with her golden when he was a puppy

FemaleChocolateService

I grew up with one from ages 1-13 and she was my best friend, they are such an amazing breed and I would love to have one as my first dog of my own. They are well behaved and energetic and would be perfect for my parents and I to have in the household.

Yes, Cleveland Heights Animal Hospital and their phone number is 8636462995

By me and my mom mostly, and my dad on his days off. But this puppy will primarily be mine so I will take most of the responsibility

4 hours max

I will crate train, and self train, and for more in depth training I will take the puppy to a family friend dog trainer in our town

In a crate until completely house trained, and then the puppy will be free roam and have beds all around the home to go to. The cage will stay in my room.

No, I do not.

My puppy will be cared for by me and 15 year old daughter, feed in the morning, try to do some training, play a lot, take him outside with me and to stores. We are very active and we will bring him along everywhere!

never because an adult stays at home 24/7

Have my treats, tell them the command, and even if he does it half way, i’ll still give him a treat because then they will eventually get the hang of it as it’s being repeated daily and hourly. Sitting, roll over, not walking out the door when it’s opened, waiting to eat their food, where to go and not to go, controlling themselves around other dogs!

My puppy will be sleeping in my living room right by my room door!

Because we love how they are friendly, sweet, loyal, good with children, active and love the water

No because our veterinarian retired but we will ask around for a reputable one in the neighborhood

I work from home everyday and my husband is off every other week so we would take care of the puppy during the day. The dogs scheduled walks and eat times change as they get older so tbh I forgot how frequently they need walks and food as a puppy bc it’s been so long since our deceased dog was a puppy but as an adult she ate twice a day and had a morning walk, 1-2 midday walks and an evening walks during the work week.

Not very many as I woke from home! Maybe 2 hours some days

We are open to suggestions because the last one jumped on tables for food lol but k think we would use the clicker/reward with treat system

As a puppy, in our main bedroom and in a crate that we will make cozy with blankets or a small dog bed.

My husband and I would take care of the puppy. I work from home and e has every other week off. We would take the puppy for 3-4 walks a day, have playtime, feed it twice a day as an adult. We have a pool and live on a closed in lake (no connecting canals) so puppy would have access to plenty of water activity!

At most 2 because I work from home

We would try the clicker/treat positive reinforcement method

Puppy would sleep in a crate in our home day and night (assuming puppy fees comfortable in it bc of innate feeling of being in a den). Puppy would probably sleep in the bedroom with me and my husband and once grown , any room in the house it wants to sleep in

My ‘gran’ snake/ 15 years

It was a gift from grandma against my wishes. But when you have a pet, you have it for life. He’s going to outlive us all :)

Labs have truly enriched my life. Twenty years ago, we had such a beautiful sweet chocolate girl that we wanted to share her with the world! We responsibly tested her for everything available at the time(eyes, joints, etc) She scored high so we bred her with a “show champ” and had a litter of 11 gorgeous pups. My son and I helped deliver them. We also supplemented milk and raised them in baby pools in our living room until the 3rd week, then moved them to the patio! After 10 weeks, we kept our favorite male and carefully selected homes for the rest. It was hard work but I was in heaven! So YES, I have raised puppies.

MaleBlack

My sweet Chocolate Moose died several years ago at the age of 17!!! He went everywhere with us. My husband and I are boaters and campers and lead an active lifestyle. My heart is ready and yearns for a new baby! ? But I don’t want just any lab; I want one from a responsible breeder. So Flo Labradors sounds like the perfect fit ?

Yes, We used to go to Dr. K in Jupiter.

I am a retired school teacher. My husband is also retired. I have plenty of time to devote to a dog ❤️

Zero.

Immediately. Positive reinforcement and a lot of patience. We’ll begin with potty training; soft hand mouthing only/no biting; sit and stay; walking on a leash; retrieval; no jumping on visitors; good manners!
Labs tend to chew for the first two years. For some reason they favor expensive leather. ? It is my responsibility to provide lots of chew toys and activity and keep shoes/handbags out of reach!

During the day, he will have a large crate that he can hide in when he wants peace. At night, he can sleep in our bed-he’s gonna be part of the pack!

Yes, We currently have moved down here in Florida for a month now, but will be transferring our pets to a vet around here soon.

Myself ( Anthony) or my girlfriend Mikaela , the puppy will be around one of us at all times, Anthony can bring them to work or if Mikaela is off they might be home depending on the day. The puppy will be trained with patience and love and ofcourse with treats. The puppy will not be crated while we are home, unless the puppy is active at night then we will crate so everyone gets a good night sleep. Also the puppy would be cared for by a long morning walk and good evening walk with a backyard to play around in during the day. We are currently living in an apartment while our house is being built and is scheduled to be moving in by the middle / end of June … latest first week of July.

We believe in patient training , rewarding the dog for correctly doing the command. Training takes lots of time and patience and repetitiveness.

We have multiple dog thrones as they are better than dog beds….hahah… on the couch with us or floor.

During the night either on our bed between us or if active crate so we do not have to worry about the puppy getting hurt jumping off the bed ( if he is active at night when growing older).

The pup will be crated in a large crate with a movable divider for growth.

I typically work about 4 hours away from the house in the mornings.

The pup will be trained using positive reinforcement. The typical sit, stay, lay down, leave it commands. Also will be leash trained with 2 to 3 walks per day. Short walks at first followed by longer ones as the pup grows. The perk across the street offers a place to play fetch and frisbee. Our yard is fenced with 6′ vinyl fencing.

Pup will have a crate when noboy’s home and several dog beds, one in my office, one in the living room. At night the dog will be crated in the bedroom with us until it is completely housebroken, then allowed to lay on the carpet, cool bathroom tile, or dog bed. I don’t allow dogs on the furniture, I hate sand in the bed and dog hair on the furnature.

We had a rescue black lab named Kobe who passed away at 1 years old due to aortic stenosis and DCM. We believe his health issues were due to bad breeding. We fell in love with Kobe and his temperament and he fit so perfectly in our lives with our activity level and what we like to do (walks, beach). Within the next 10 years we will have kids, but not anytime soon, so we also want a family dog who will grow with us as our family grows.

We previously had a Banfield Pet Hospital vet, you may contact them. However, with this dog we are prepared to move to a different vet as they were not our favorite.

I work a hybrid schedule at my job and will be home besides two days a week. On those two days, my husband is allowed to take the dog with him to work.

Less than an hour

I have a trainer we used for our last dog named Daniela. She helped us do positive training with our last dog because we don’t believe in punishing a dog. We did weekly training sessions where we worked up from learning sit stay wait leave it etc. to learning leash walking skills and remaining calm in public. We would go to dog friendly stores to practice all of the above and train outside of dog parks. I believe having your dogs focus is one of the most important parts of training!

During the day the puppy can sleep wherever he chooses. During the night we want to crate train the dog but will have his crate in our room with us so he isn’t separated. I want the crate to be his comfortable space and hope that he would wander into his crate to nap during the day (not having the door closed) as well as at night.

Most days of the week 0. If we have something we have to attend it would be less than 3 hours.

Definitely going to begin with den training for over night and any time we may be a way. We will also work to have them be free to roam once they reach the age they can safely hold their bladder. Will potty train them. We are on the 4th floor of our apartment so we will get turf pads for the balcony to aid in that process in the beginning. Will leash train early with the goal of going keashless.

Day will be a pen in my office. Night will be den until they reach the age and proper training to sleep with us.

Yes, over the past thirty years, I have raised two yellow lab puppies, one pocket beagle puppy, and one small rescue puppy.

MaleYellow

I have been around Labrador’s for the past forty plus years and love their personality, intelligence, and behavior. They are sweet dogs and are easy to train. We have had several different small dogs, over the last twenty years and both of them have suffered greatly from intervertebral disc disease/disorder; despite exercising great care with them. It is heartbreaking to lose a dog, so I want to return to a larger breed that does not have that problem.

Yes to both.

I will train our puppy, who will also socialize with our two grown daughters and my husband. We have a nice backyard with a pool that should satisfy some of his exercise needs while allowing him to swim, which labs love to do.

Someone is almost always home, so he will rarely be left alone. If we all need to go somewhere together, we would probably only be gone for 2-3 hours.

I will potty train him the same way I have done it before. I will carry him out to a circular pen, especially after he eats, drinks, or wakes up. I will place him inside the fencing and let him sniff around. Once he starts going, I will repeat potty, potty, potty; while he is going and praise him upon completion. I believe in training through positive reinforcement. In regards to chewing, there will be chew toys for him, and we will keep our shoes and other things puppies love to chew up, as much as possible. We will spend several hours per day playing with him, teaching him how to walk on a leash, and working on obedience as he gets older.

I know you aren’t supposed to allow your dog to sleep with you, but we have always allowed them to. They provide a sense of love and comfort when they lean into you and sleep with you. We provided safe ways for the small ones to get off the bed.

Fish, less than 1 year.

My girlfriend and I have both raised childhood dogs from puppies. They unfortunately recently passed in the last few years in their old age and battle with cancer, and I was looking to surprise her with her dream dog.

MaleChocolate

I have heard of the loving personalities and playful nature of labradors. They have been around my girlfriend and I our whole lives, and have both dreamed of welcoming one into our families. We have plans for kids and other dogs, and labradors have been known to do well with them. I have plans to read guides and train my future friend to be safe and comfortable with humans and other dogs.

I have a vet who has helped me with my childhood pet, who passed in 2021 at 13. Her name is Dr. Angela Butts and is located at the Animallife Vet Center at 7550 Mission Hills Drive, #108, Naples, FL, 34119. You can definitely call her at (239)-435-1222, and my dog was Benji.

I am planning to start remotely working soon, and I will be the person primarily taking care of him. My routine was to take my dog out at least three times per day, and to feed once per day. I’m currently looking up nutritious natural dog food brands and meals that I can cook that are dog/puppy safe. Training will be often, especially early. YouTube and Reddit are good places to engage with trainers and other Labrador owners.

0-6, with 6 being absolute max.

I plan to train them with positive reinforcement over punishment. Early training will include touching them while they are eating and playing to teach familiarity. I will also incorporate more challenging tricks to develop their intellect. I have seen puppy bowls that help slow down their eating daily or every few days, especially as puppies. Walking training will be important to avoid pulling and establish familiarity with how walks should be. These are based off of current research, which will improve as the puppy pickup date nears.

They will have a bed available to them, but will be welcomed on the bed my gf and I sleep on. There will be other warm places besides a cold wood floor that the dog will have natural light and shade to rest.

Brookebrkbosworth@gmail.com727-218-7334115 SW 11th StMiamiFloridaCondoOwnNo! This would be the first member of our family2

N/A

We have never raised a puppy of our own! I have fostered several litters of pups from the humane society growing up. They were mostly strays/ abandoned by their mother and too young to be placed in their forever homes separately. My partner, Gabe, has had multiple dogs growing up in his family home, but the raising of them was mostly his parents responsibility at the time. We have done a lot of research and have been waiting for the perfect time to raise the first puppy of our own. My sister is a practicing small animal veterinarian and has been helping us a lot with this process.

EitherChocolate

Gabe and I have visited multiple shelters and consulted with various breeders in search of what we think will be the perfect fit for us, and also which breed would also be the happiest with our personalities and our home. Gabe and I both are 26 years old and are very active, outgoing, and family oriented, and we really would like the breed of dog we choose to be a wonderful addition to our already existing lifestyle. We both have wanted a more active, larger dog breed since we were little (Gabe grew up with golden’s, and I have fostered many larger size dog breeds), but we also recognize that we do live in a condo and that we have to be realistic about the size of dog that would be comfortable in our home, and realized that a dog right around 80 pounds or under would be the best fit. Living in a condo has also made us realize the importance of our dog being good with other dogs and able to be socialized well from a young age (we have a lot of other dogs in our building, and want to make sure our dog would be happy to run into other dogs in the hallways, etc.) We also live right across the street from a dog park! Which we think would be a great from of socialization and activity for our dog, so we really value our dog being able to play with others. Additionally, both of our parents have houses with pools, and we love to visit the dog beach around 10 minutes away, and so we would love to have a dog that loves the water and loves to play and swim with us! I love to go on walks around the city (I walk an average of 15k steps a day) and would love a furry friend that would love to be active with me. Most importantly, our first dog would be the first addition to our family, and therefore would be an integral part of our lives when we decide to have kids of our own, and we want to make sure our pup would be good with young children. We are also currently very socially active and visit our family and friends often as well as host, and so really value having a dog that is open to strangers and can be adaptable when necessary. I personally value a very well trained dog and am drawn to the Labrador retriever for it’s trainability. They are also the cutest!! We met a litter of pups last week and fell in love with the chocolate color pups we met. We may be open to other colors as well, but we really think the chocolate coat color is beautiful.

Since we currently do not have any pets, we do not have a veterinarian at the moment. As I mentioned above, my sister is a veterinarian and so she has been helping us with this process. However, her practice is in Rhode Island, so we would be finding a practitioner closer to us when the time comes. We have done some research on Vets in our area but are also open to suggestions/ referrals if you have any you trust or would like us to work with.

We plan to both take some time off of work when the puppy is first brought home for about the first month so we never leave it alone for longer than AKC guidelines of one hour per month of age (ex: 8-10 weeks: less than an hour; 3 months: less than 3 hours, etc.) Our PTO accumulates per month, so we have been planning for this and saving up for quite some time. As the puppy gets older, I work in the UM Hospital so can work remote 1 day per week and only work 10 minutes away from the home if it’s ever necessary for me to go home. Gabe is able to work remote more freely, and is typically home all day 2-3 days per week. He is an engineer and works on site for construction projects some days, but if he is on site it’s usually just for a few hours. In a rare instance that both of us would be away from home for 8 hours during the work week, we have several doggy day cares within walking distance of our condo. Additionally, we have several friends that are walking distance that we feel comfortable with accessing our home while we are gone to be with the puppy. (Again, this is only as it gets older and as is age appropriate).

I referenced this a little bit in the question above. This will change depending on the day but will never exceed guidelines of what’s appropriate based on the AKC guidelines for the puppies age. We want to be home enough that is necessary but not to an extent that we create a puppy with separation anxiety when the time comes for one of us to leave.

We do plan to crate train our puppy to help with potty training from an early age. We found this recommended by veterinarians and the AKC website in order to create a house training schedule. Ideally, I would love to follow the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) training classes or a similar program, I believe they may offer group classes of this at the Petco near us, but need to do some more research on availability as the time gets closer. Gabe thinks that I will be able to train the dog very well on my own (I work in behavioral psychology and teach, so this process would be very enjoyable and fulfilling for me as well). However, I recognize this is my first puppy, so always bring up getting private professional puppy training as a great resource as well.

We are hoping for the first few weeks we can crate train the puppy to love and be comfortable in it’s crate while being close to us! We want the puppy to associate the crate with safety and positive reinforcement and are hoping that it can sleep comfortably in here while it is being house trained.

Yes my lab mix is 2 years old now

EitherYellow

I’ve had them my whole life and I need a dog that will do well with my dog and cats

Yes. Pines west Pembroke Pines

I am a teacher so I’m off until 8-15 and so I will be doing training and staying home with puppy and plan to crate train so it will be okay when I am at work. I get 2 breaks during the day and live close to work so I would be able to stop by and let him out

7 at the very most if for some reason I couldn’t get home on my break

Planning on crate training right away, I have another dog that eats her food in her crate so I want to train this one to do the same. And then the normal, sit and potty train and shake hands type of stuff

Either in the crate if needed or preferably on the bed once potty trained

Love the breed, we have had 2 in the past 17 years. We just had to put down our Chocolate this week who was fighting cancer since this past March.

We recently moved to FL so we do not have a local Vet. We have a Vet that we used in New Jersey that we could provide you with all of their information.

Myself and my Wife.

Myself and Wife are both retired, so very few hours.

Puppy training and basic obedience.

Our last two labs took over our bed room, so I’m sure it will be the same

Yes, I have raised two Labrador retriever females from puppy to senior.

FemaleBlack

I have loved Labrador Retrievers all my life. I have had a chocolate Labrador female and a yellow Labrador female rescue, both have which lived for 13+ years. This dog will have the most amazing life filled with dog parks, long walks, delicious food, lots of snuggles, a private yard and pool, and amazing care. Owning a Labrador Retriever is my heart’s desire. Their charming personality and unwavering loyalty tug at my soul. I envision a life filled with joyful moments, as we embark on adventures together, their playful spirit a constant source of happiness. Their gentle nature assures me that they’ll be perfect companions for me & my future family , especially the little ones. Moreover, their intelligence and trainability make them an ideal choice for various activities, enriching our lives with endless possibilities. Embracing a Labrador means forging an unbreakable bond, and I can’t wait to experience the unconditional love and companionship that only they can offer.

No but I plan to have my dog’s health care provided here, https://www.clintmooreanimalhospital.com/

I work out of my childhood home, which is less than five minutes from my apartment. This puppy will be looked after me for the vast majority of the Day.

less than 1 on average

I plan to take puppy classes for both training and socialization. My goal is to train this puppy so that it may be a role model for other puppies and their owners.

My puppy will have palatial accommodations when at home or at work, there will be beds, furniture and cool floors to sleep on during the day and night. Dogs love comfort and I am happy to oblige in providing comfort.

Since we own a business, they are able to come to work with us so that he can be let out multiple times a day and will not be home alone. We are home all day on weekends and will all be able to spend time with the puppy

None since we will bring him to work

Previously, we brought our lab to a private trainer who came to our house. With this dog, we were considering bringing him to a petco class.

At night he will sleep in his crate

Yes, we just lost our pitbull mix and are absolutely heartbroken about it. He was so sweet and snuggly. I got him at 6 weeks old and had him until he just passed at 9. We know a pup won’t replace him, but think it will fill the void a bit, and we are excited to start the journey with our next pup.

FemaleYellow

Any lab we have ever met is so friendly and smart. We have heard they are great family dogs, and we may have kids down the road. We think they are beautiful and can’t wait to include ours on walks, adventures to the beach and swimming in our pool!

Yes, Ehrlich Animal Hospital – (813) 920-0566

I go into the office about once a week and my husband works from home every day, so our pup will be getting loads of attention. I took our past dog, Cooper, on a walk in the AM and one at night. I will do the same with the new pup. I loved training and teaching cooper tricks also. We tend to have people over more than going out, so our pup will be meeting lots of new friends.

Around 1 typically when we go to the gym. Otherwise, just occasionally doing things on the weekend, but we will bring her with often:)

I got our last dog, Cooper, when he was six weeks and had him able to sit, shake, wait, roll over and speak in the first couple months. I will do the same with this girl and would like to teach her nice walking manners/heeling and to drop her toy when we are playing fetch.

During the day, likely on the couch downstairs by us. During the night, hopefully she will want to be in bed snuggled up with us:)

I am currently a college student at UCF but planning to move back home to Boca Raton, my hometown, in August. A dog would be a great fit for me while adjusting to living back home. I have a few friends who have labs from you guys and have highly recommended me to get one. My boyfriend also wants a dog so he can become a duck dog since we partake in hunting.

I do not.

I will be the main caretaker of the puppy. I will be living with my younger sister, mom, step dad and stepbrother for a little bit while I try to find a new home to move into on my own.

Hardly ever, most days there is always at least one person at home.

I plan to take it to a trainer. I am looked into it but have not found a place I am set on yet.

I want to be able to let the puppy sleep where it wants to whether that is with me or inside a kennel.

We’ve seen the demeanor of our best friends puppy and our family has 3 foster to adoptive children who seek companionship with animals. We believe it is the right time with their ages to have them grow with an animal to help them through their healing.

We use to use Martin Downs Animal Clinic

I work from home as well as homeschooling our 11 year old so the 2 of us will be home most of the day.

About 2-3 hours when the kids have extra circular activities but we’d love to train our puppy to come with us to outings

Crate when we aren’t home, have a designated sleeping area, we are looking into a trainer so we can bring the dog with us on our outings to help our children’s anxiety and depression.

Either in crate or in designated area

I’m looking for a companion. I’m home pretty much all day because I work from home, I also struggle with anxiety. I think having a dog of my own especially, a labrador will force me to go outside and exercise a lot more and just enjoy our time together.

Yes I do and you may! VCA Vet on Commercial Blvd, Fort Lauderdale Florida!

I work from home doing social media marketing, so I plan to be with the puppy all day. Playing, feeding, and loving the pupper!

The puppy won’t be left alone, however once he or she grows a little older maybe an hour to run errands. Like I said I’m home 98% of the time’

I plan to potty train of course, crate train, and basic commands like sit and paw.

First, he or she will be crate trained. Then I imagine in my bed or in a doggy bed beside my bed!

We both grew up with labs and raised our family lab over Covid together. We are hoping to love and cherish a lab before starting our own family in the coming year.

Not yet, as we don’t currently have any of our own pets.

Spouse who works from home full time, 7 days a week.

My wife grew up with labs and border collies who she trained with her mother. We will be crate training as well.

I am very experienced with dogs, as my mother and father owned a dog grooming business. I spent much of my childhood and young adult years as an assistant dog groomer and dog care taker as part of my parents small business.

At night our puppy will have its own space in a comfortable crate. During the day the puppy will be welcome to sleep in her own bed (in addition to crate).

IN OUR LAST TWO LABS THIS LASTED LESS THAN 4-5 MONTHS. IN FACT OUR FEMALE USED TO GO LAY WHERE HER CRATE WAS EVEN AFTER WE TOOK IT AWAY. THEY CONSIDER IT THEIR PLACE
